Our Story

Here is the story of Isabella, Maria and Christophe, a family passionate about cooking and quality ingredients. Our shared love for gastronomy led us to a dream: opening a restaurant dedicated to American comfort food. Together, we want to showcase the richness and diversity of this comforting cuisine, far from clichés, by highlighting quality ingredients and authentic recipes.
We are well-aware of the misconceptions some may have about American cuisine. Beyond the typical associations with french-fries and burgers, we are determined to showcase the diverse and flavorful culinary traditions that America has to offer, while recognizing the importance of food sustainability, and a focus on local, seasonably available produce.
Prepare your pallet to be dazzled by nostalgic American hearty fare, starting small at first with some basics, such as traditional Cinnamon Rolls, Brownies, Cookies, Biscuits emblematic of any good southern US meal, to the Sloppy Joes, Shepherd's Pies and Cheesesteak Sandwiches that Philadelphia made famous. We are confident that locals will soon begin discovering new favorites and others reconnecting with old nostalgic comforts !
At Comfort Food Basel, our cinnamon rolls are crafted with an intricate attention to detail that sets them apart. We don’t just infuse flavor in the topping, but in every layer—from the dough to the filling and the glaze.
Our signature pumpkin-spice rolls are a perfect example, where each bite reveals the richness of seasonal spices. The dough itself is a labor of love, undergoing three careful rises and utilizing the Tangzhong method, a technique that ensures our rolls are irresistibly soft and pillowy.
While this process is time-consuming, the result is an unparalleled taste experience that makes every minute worth it.
